A TRIP TO THE L.O.B. CHAPTER 2
Who Will Win The LOTTERY?
&
Yes, What Will they get?
Thinking about the lottery the three children went to their family dining table and finished their dinner which was rice and curry. After dinner they went upstairs and changed into their night dresses and sat on their beds.
"Isn't this the first lottery in town to have a big surprise in it?"
"Oh Yes, your right" said Mike who was a year older than Olivia.
"She's right" repeated Maggie who was little older than Mike.
"It’s going to be a lot of fun if any of us wins the lottery" said Mike dreamily
"I wonder what we'll get if we win" Olivia said aloud.
"It can be a jackpot" said Mike.
"Now we'll go to sleep, tomorrow we’ll get to know what we could win in the big lottery, if we have any luck" advised Maggie.
They freshned up and sat down at their family dinning table, where their parents were waiting for them with their breakfast served. They were very very excited. They had to go to the lottery shop to test their luck!
"Welcome” said the lottery seller as the Granger
family arrived.
“Hello Sir, what time will we get to know the lottery results?” asked Mr’s. Granger.
“In about an hour, the winning numbers will be displayed here” he said pointing at a projector screen behind him.
“That’s a long time, we could go shopping till then” suggested
Mr’s. Granger.
They went to buy some clothes and then bought some ice-cream. The
children had been checking their watches almost every minute. But when the time came to have ice cream, they forgot about the lottery for a while. Maggie finished eating her
ice-cream first and suddenly she remembered of the lottery and she looked at her watch, one and half hour had passed since they had
started shopping.
“Mom, dad we’re late, results must have already been put up” squealed Maggie.
“Don’t worry Maggie” Mr. Granger consoled his daughter. Then
looking at the other two, he added “It will be displayed all day long!”.
But the children were not convinced. Mike protested, “But what if
they remove it before we reach there?”
“Yes, what if they remove it?” said Olivia.
“Yes, what if they remove it?” repeated Mike.
“You kids heard what your father said” exclaimed Mr’s. Granger. “They will
not remove….”
“May,” interrupted Mr. Granger. “Give the tickets to them, let
them go and check.”
Mr’s. Granger gave the tickets to her kids and warned them to use only the footpath. The children rushed down the footpath and they reached the lottery shop in a couple of minutes. There was a large crowd around the shop.
The three children caught each other’s hand very tightly
and squeezed to the front of the crowd and started checking their luck.
They soon had finished checking their four tickets, in which they had no luck and had left only one ticket left to check. They had already lost hopes and had became very sad. By that time, Mr. and Mr's. Granger had finished their shopping and were on the way back to the lottery shop.
As Mr's. and Mr. Granger were nearing the lottery shop, they heard three voices that sounded like their kids voices and they probably were their kids. They ran down to the lottery shop and saw their kids screaming "We won, we have won, we have won a trip to the famous
"LAND OF BURGEONS".
